look what MC did !!
bwahahaha..... I came in from school... and... MC is in the kitchen stepping on a towel that is shoved under the dishwasher... I knew what happened before she even said it. —— and the funny thing is, randall wayne was at the apartment and was cleaning and was a little confused with what to put in it and mary caroline comes to the rescue and with little confidence takes control of the situation... and this is the result. —— it's okay MC, everyone does this sometime in their life.

ps. heather has been gone to athens and the beach and she is severly missed around here.

This Is NOW.
This apartment is getting smaller by the minute.
Mary Caroline is moved in. Who knew a one bedroom apartment could fit the belongings of three girls so nice and snug? The three of us sleep along side one another with two beds pushed together against the width of the bedroom. Oh, and Gilbert snuggles with us too. Good times.
We went on adventures in Atlanta tonight. It started out like all great adventures should with the first stop being at Yoforia. Yum. Then we headed to an enormous cemetery downtown..just a little creepy. After that, we checked out the skyline from our friend's loft, and all I have to say about that is some people should get blinds for their windows....
That's about it. Catching up on season two of Dexter with MC now. Peace and love.

YOFORIA.
There is something about that yogurt that makes you want more and more.
At 11:40 p.m. Merridith, her sister Melanie, and Brent came and picked me up to go get some frozen yogurt.
The place closes at 12, and it was approximately 20 min away, so there was a good possibility we wouldn't make it in time. (which would be absolutely devastating)
I told Kendra to say a prayer that they miraculously stay open long enough for us to order some frozen yogurt (I found out later she never did so this info became irrelevant)
So Merridith is trying to book it so we could make it in time, but for some reason, tonight is the night we hit every red light on Spring St....we might have run one or two..oops.
Then, out of the blue, some cops decided to park in the middle of the street in front of us, while one cop jumped out of the car to run in some fast food joint to grab them something to eat.
It was sooo illegal, but they are cops so they think they have some sort of special authority over us common people and can do whatever they want. psh.
Finally after traffic cleared up a bit, we were able to drive around them and procede on our journey for frozen yogurt.
We were about halfway there and we turned onto Highland Ave. where traffic was completely stalled due to all of the bars and restaurants on that strip.
We had about 10 minutes until closing at that point.
I was getting pessimistic about this trip and was thinking we should probably just turn around, but Brent was confident we would make it so we persevered.
We finally got past the majority of the traffic and there were 3 min until closing.
We were soo close.
Brent had his seatbelt off so he was prepared to jump from the car and run inside and scream, "WAIT! THERE ARE MORE COMING!" (I had a feeling we were about to make some Yogurt workers kind of annoyed that we were coming in at the very last minute...and I mean the very last minute..)
Well we parked, and Merridith and Brent ran inside together, and this is how the story goes from here according to Brent:
Merridith ran inside first and asked "Are y'all still open?"
The girl working kind of stuttered and said "uh..uh..well.....n-"
That's when Brent made it inside and the girl took one look at him and said something to the effect of, "Why yes we're still open! Come on in! We're open anytime for you, Brent." (Ok, I made that last sentence up)
In Brent's eyes, his studly demeanor got us our frozen yogurt tonight. So for that, I am grateful. Thank you Brent.
Now it is 5:15 a.m. and I have yet to pack for the trip Kendra and I are taking to Arkansas, and we are leaving in about 2 hours. I need to get on that. And apparently there is no internet in Arkansas, so no more new posts to come for a while. Until next time,
My best,

Oh the lives we live...
What a crazy whirlwind of a weekend. We started out with Rafi's semi-surprise birthday party Friday night, but Kendra and I could only stick around for the "surprise" part. We had to hit the road for Savannah to go to the fashion show some of our friends designed and created garments for. We arrived at 1:30a.m Saturday and helped Lezley pick out and outfit for her photoshoot that morning with the ever so good looking and famous designer Yigal Azrouel..after a few hours of trying on clothes and throwing them all over the place, we slept for a a little bit and woke up at 8a.m. for the shoot. It was quite funny..let me tell you why. Yigal mentored about 10 student designers this year, Lezley and Nathaly being two of them, and the photoshoot was centered around him with all of the student designers by his side. If you can imagine this, Lezley could care less about this part of the fashion industry..the glamorous side. She didn't care she was going to do a photoshoot with a famous designer. She wore a very eclectic and cute outfit along with her Cranberry inspired boots, while all the other girls wore the lowest cut, shortest dresses you will ever see. They were trying so hard to be noticed. The funny part is that Lezley was probably the one who cared the least about this photoshoot and gaining Yigal's attention, but the photographer positioned her right next to him. I wish you could see the way all the girls were gawking and smitten by him. It was hilarious. Then you have Lezley who didn't give him the time of day. I think Kendra has some pictures of it we will post later.
After that was done, Lezley, Kendra, and I went to the Soho Cafe for a delicious lunch, then Lezley went to the first show at 4pm while Kendra and I stayed at the house to do homework and nap.
We were going to the 8pm show. At 7, Lezley tells us to come to her aunt's hotel in the historic district, so we hurry off there and all of us get ready at the last minute because we can't seem to do it any other way. I had Lezley sewing my dress while it was half on me. Like I said, very last minute. We got ready and made it exactly on time. It was amazing. We saw Sachi there, along with Andre Leon Tally, J. Alexander (aka Miss J. from America's Next Top Model), Ruben and Isabel Toledo (who happen to be the cutest couple ever!), Mychael Knight (from Project Runway), Yigal, and other fashion people that I have no idea who they are. It was so cool. You know how at the end of the runway show, the designer walks out on the catwalk and waves? Well, Lezley skipped out on that part. Oh Lezley..Afterwards we went to the VIP after party because we are cool like that...not. It was fun though. We felt important for a split second. Kendra told the wait staff to bring all the hors d'oeuvres our way first. And they listened. haha.
We got back to Lezley's house really late. I think we went to bed around 2am or 3am. And I woke up at 6am to get ready for the drive back to Atlanta. We got back just in time for church at 11am. We have such perfect timing. Then lucky Kendra managed to go to the Coldplay concert that night with our good friends MC and Merridith, along with others.
That's about it. We have been going nonstop. 2 more weeks....can't wait..

but... do you love it?
heather makes me a better person.
last night, we went through all of my clothes and got rid of the things I didn't love. I didn't say like, I said "love." You see, I have grown a lot in the past few years... I weighed 115ish when coming into SCAD almost 3 years ago ... now I weigh like 135... I went from a size 2 to a size 6. I'm just growing up, my body is just changing... so, like none of my old pants fit anymore. (and that's depressing because they are still so cute, they just don't fit) so when heather and I were in Chi-town we bought some new stuff and when we got home we started getting rid of old stuff... well, I went through my clothes the first round and got rid of a few things and this is pretty much how the convo with me and heather went...
"that's all your getting rid of?"
"yeah, heath I really do like all of this stuff."
"but that's a lot of stuff, when is the last time you wore this? (grabs shirt)"
"uhhhh"
"exactly! (heath takes shirt off hanger and throws in the go-away pile) and what about this one?"
"uhhh, i dont know but I like that shirt"
"but do you love it?"
"no..... but I like it."
"well you deserve to look fabulous all the time in clothes you love (chunks shirt into hallway)"
...3 trash bags full of clothes later ... I am feeling EXTREMELY liberated to get rid of all that stuff. Like really I got rid of 3 trash bags FULL of clothes and still have plenty left and, heather is right, the things that are left are things I really love. (in all reality I could get rid of more)
I would have never done that had heather not said, "but do you LOVE it." and she is right, I didn't love it and I rarely wore it... so, I have SO much stinking room to breathe now. so, when deciding the things that you should keep or chunk remember to ask "do you LOVE it.. not like it, LOVE it..." and if the answer is no, then give it away because someone else will love it more.
the less you have the more you appreciate it.
only buy things you love.
only keep things you love.
less stuff is freeing.

we are broken.
so this is going to be a depressing post but I just have to write about my experience last night.
it was like 2.30am and kassie, katie, heath and I were riding the el back home. apparently it was prom night for some school and a group of kids had plans for taco bell before going home. they were all pretty wasted and crowded the el for the first few stops before they decided to get off. two young girls were sitting in front of me and their two friends were across the el from them. one of the girls in front of me was wiping her eyes and I caught on that she was pretty upset and her friend next to her was trying to comfort her. when the taco bell stop came everyone hurried to get off and the two girls went to as well... then the girl who was crying said she just wanted to go home. she looked so defeated, her head hung low and it was really something like out of a movie because she was crying so silently looking out the window of the train while her friend had her head on her shoulder trying to comfort her. it was so early in the morning no one was really talking and the el is always so loud...
thennnn
this MEAN girl who was sitting across the aisle from the other girls started PUNCHING her in the leg and saying "wake the f up, you're f'ing sleepy" ... the girl told her to stop... she didn't. she kept cussing at her. she called her a pussy about five times... the girl kept telling her to stop but eventually she just gave up. I wanted to help her... and I should have... I suck so bad sometimes at doing the right thing. I wanted to grab that girl and tell her how she is SCREWING up someones life for years and years by abusing her physically AND emotionally. This world is so screwed up sometimes. People can be so mean.
It reminded me of my most favorite song ever...
I am outside
And I've been waiting for the sun
With my wide eyes
I've seen worlds that don't belong
My mouth is dry with words I cannot verbalize
Tell me why we live like this
—Hayley Williams
I know I fall short of this and I am always working on it... but just remember the power of your words and actions... one sentence that comes flying out of my mouth, our mouth, has the potential to screw up someone elses life for years...
be nice to everyone.

I love this city!
Chicago makes me happy.
I love the el.
I love the subway.
I love how when you go out to eat they automatically give you water without asking.
I love the buildings.
I love the people.
It's just plain awesome!
Yesterday Kendra and I arrived and hung out at the airport for a little while doing some homework while we waited for Corey to get out of class. Then we hopped on the el train and met Corey at her new apartment, dropped our stuff off, and went to this really yummy restaurant called the Pick Me Up Cafe. We ordered the usual...hummus with pita and veggies, and a chicken ranch wrap with some snickers cheese cake to top everything off. We headed back to Corey's apt for little bit when mother nature decided to brew up a monsoon. So Kendra and I toted our stuff back downtown and nearly got washed away in the process. It was rather funny. Not to mention we looked ridiculous.
Got back to the Buckingham apartments and planned our surprise attack for Katie's birthday. My old roomies didn't know I was in town so we had to do something exciting..I wrote a birthday card to Katie and slid it under the door while Kendra was sitting in full view down the hallway pretending like she was talking on her telephone. No one picked up the card so I knocked and ran. Katie picked it up and looked out the door and looked at Kendra, closed the door, and then repeated that. She was confused. She read the card and saw that it was from me and called me immediately to ask how it got there. I denied knowing anything or what she was talking about. Then I said, "ohhh you mean THAT card...There should be a girl sitting outside your room...go outside and.." Then my phone died because it sucks but oh well, it was pretty good timing. So Katie went outside and Kendra looked up at her and Katie started freaking out saying "OMG You are Kendra! You are Heather's friend!" And Kendra denied it, but Katie was pretty confident in her accusation. Then Kendra said she was looking for her friend and asked Katie if she knew where she could find her..that's when I popped around the corner and Katie started crying. It was quite touching if I do say so myself. All night when we went out Katie kept looking at me saying "WOW!.. WOWW.!! I can't believe this!" It was really funny. We went out to a couple bars, met up with some people. Good times. Then I came back to the apartment and surprised Kassi. And all she could say was "I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU WOULD DO THIS!" So that was funny too.
Today I went and got my hair did. Kind of. I got the color changed. Saturday I go back to have it cut. People have been staring at me. I think this new hair color makes me look like a super meanie. I guess I will have to be super nice now to compensate for it. Homework time. I really have to finish this paper that was due yesterday that I have known about for 8 weeks. I am really a pathetic loser for procrastinating this long. ousghrodlhf. I love Chicago. Until next time...peace!

Day 1
So far, so good.
I made it into the correct apartment on attempt #1.
Gilbert and I have little to no interaction as of now. Every once and a while we look up at each other, stare a second, then move on.
I have a feeling this Gilbert will only last for tonight. If he even lasts that long.
I'll keep you posted,
MC
P.S.
Gilbert just learned he can climb on top of the refrigerator and onto the top of the cabinets. His world just got a little bit bigger. Have fun with that.

Dear MC Hammer,
Hopefully this letter will help you through your week with Gilbert. I don't think we need to warn you that he is a punk, so prepare yourself. If he gets too out of control, we like to open the door to our "balcony" because it gives him hope for a brighter future involving freedom beyond our apartment. Once he tires of that after, give or take, five minutes, and he is still psycho, he may need some alone time in his "room". Just put his water in there and keep the lights on and maybe give him a toy. He likes to eat a lot, but we try to limit it to three times a day. Just throw some dry food in his bowl and give him fresh water. If you are feeling kind, give him some of that delicious canned stuff in the pantry..only like 1/3 at a time though. It's probably a good idea to keep the doors to all of the rooms closed except for his room while you are gone. He has a tendency to cause a lot of destruction when the opportune moment arises. Also, be aware of what you are keeping on the counters, because he may, and WILL, eat that or destroy it too. Other than that make yourself at home. Feel free to rearrange whatever you like. We would love a good surprise when we return from Chicago. Just make sure whatever you do still looks nice for the family that is coming into town for graduation in a couple of weeks. We love you and you are awesome for doing this! Eat anything that you want, especially if it is going bad. And be sure to blog about your adventures in the apartment with your special bonding time with Gilbert!

my boyfriend.
so, as you all know I have been in an abusive relationship with this
overly jealous,
extremely time consuming,
superficial,
cruel individual
for the past two and a half years. everyday he reminds me of the freedom outside of him and our relationship.
well guys, I plan on divorcing him in august and I can't wait. you see, heather was in a similar relationship and has had enough and is getting out. I am jealous of her strength.
(This is Heather chiming in)...All my boyfriend cared about was my money so I am droppin him like its hot. (Ok, back to Kendra)
also, in other news, mary and caroline will be moving in this summer, so there will be 4 girls in this one bedroom apartment + gilbert.... oh wow what good times are to be had.
ps. the boyfriends' name is scad.

Heather Can't Do Right.
Mary Caroline couldn't do right last Friday. Merridith couldn't do right last Saturday. And I sure couldn't do right today. But Kendra is amazing and wrote me a poem. It goes a little something like this:
oh crappy it’s poem time
heathers had such a bad day so lets bust out the rhymes
all day long i’ve watched your premanent smile disappear
and I want so bad to take away those yucky tears
you see your face wasn’t made for frowning around
and the few times that you do I want to turn it upside down
if i could, tonight, while the world is asleep
i’d sneak into scad and act like a creep
i’d go into admissions and hack into computers
and approve heather smith for typography I a little sooner
but i’m not that smooth and i’d like to graduate sometime
and i don’t know if I want to commit a crime
so other ways to make you smile i guess will have to do
which is what this poem is intended to do
you see heather smith we are attached so much we are practically one
and when you are sad my bright day doesn’t have a sun
so what i’ll do is tell you this
that scad sometimes sucks like a big fat tick
but thank the lord above we have each other
to get through the times when scad is a bummer
just know that today and always and forever i’ll say
"you are my center when I spin away"
oh crappy it’s poem time
heathers had such a bad day so lets bust out the rhymes

Another introduction.
Meet two more of our new roommates, Mary & Caroline. We love them.Merridith, Mary & Caroline are headed on a roomie roadtrip with us. Updates to come. Merridith isn't having a good day. More on that later too. It's a little humorous in a not so funny way, like how Mary & Caroline got hit by a car yesterday.

Tragedy.
WE MISSED THE MICHAEL TYE CONCERT! (aka Endless Hallway concert) Sooooo sad!
Here are our angry faces:
Michael told Kender the show was at 9:00. We got there at 9:20 only to learn they finished playing at 8:50. What a shame. We really really wanted to get our hardcore dance on. Not to mention we were super stoked about the show for the past week.. Sonny was the only set we got to see (I'm not sure if he has a band name). It was pretty rad though..the drums were killer. Enjoy the photos courtesy of our future roomie MC.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————
On a side note, Rafi is the coolest kid ever. He let me watch the crew at Buckhead take down and construct/put up the new set. He even let me drill a few holes in the drum riser...so come Sunday the guy playing drums collapses, I had a hand in that. I know I sound lame for thinking drilling holes in wood is awesome, but I don't care, because it is! Rafi and the rest of those guys have such a cool job!
Tomorrow Kendra and I are working at the SCAD scholarship gala, where super rich folks are coming to buy student artwork. Kendra gets the cool job of taking bids and watching the performances and mingling with VIP guests, while lucky me gets to sit in the back room inputing data into a computer for 6 hours. It's gonna be great.
That's all for now. Sleep is good. And I want to sleep. I miss it.
Love,
-H

it feels like a sunday afternoon...
sorry I haven't posted in like a month ... heather is better at this blogging thing than me. and I know you missed my face so I posted a picture of it. I also posted my two loves who are currently asleep in the bed next to mine... so sweet. Look at Gilberts head chillin on Heather's phone, ha!
I am currently writing you from the comfort of my bed. I have been in bed for the past 4 fours. This is unheard of around here. I have slept very, very little lately because of poor prioritization with my social life. You see Friday night Heath and I stayed up talking really late and then had to wake up at 6:20 to take the Newells to the airport = 4 hrs of sleep. Saturday night we stayed up late with our cool new roomie Merrrr... = 4 hrs of sleep (because of Waumba land at 8:30am) Sunday night... same story... = 6 hrs of sleep. and last night 6 hours as well. Ladies and Gents that is 20 hours of sleep in 4 days, I am missing 14 to make the standard.... it is all because of SCAD and (to be honest) the amazing friends I have. We just all hang out all the time and I really need to prioritize my time better. But, I also came to the conclusion during all this that the secret of life is staying up late with friends and waking up early with friends. Heather and I were pretty tired all day Saturday at our Ambassador event at the school, but we endured together. So, a word from me, don't be a lame-o and go to bed early all the time, especially when friends are going to hang out, go hang out and get over it... you can sleep when you get old.
Also, I want to take a moment to acknowledge Heather.... she graciously wakes me up every morning. If it were not for her I would have missed many important events over the last few days... and those events include a presentation with the CEO of Pope & Land in Buckhead. Therefore, I am in debt to her kindness.
So, that is why I have been in bed all day. The 3 hour meeting was this morning and I couldn't be happier it is over. So the agenda for the evening is sushi with Heather to treat myself for all the hard work with this presentation and to treat Heather for being my personal alarm clock.
Life is really good. I want to say I am so happy, but happy isn't the right word... I am joyful. I am full of joy. And Heath is too... and Gilbert is too... and we are just a joyful family. — this is the other secret to life, stay around people who fill you with joy and bring out the best in you.
Also, it snowed today... and it is April.
